Happiness is a state of mind. One can not seek happiness and expect to find it, rather, you must live a righteous life and let your life experiences guide your level of happiness.

My co-author Dawn Ritchie and I wrote this book five years ago: The EMOTIONAL HOUSE. Published by the psychology publisher New Harbinger Publications in 2005, it's actually a 12-step therapy program for your HOME that helps you understand what your environment is telling you about your life and then guides you to make the desired changes in your life by making design changes to your home. It's the follow-up workbook to my first book, Spiritual Housecleaning, which was written to help survivors of trauma put their lives back together by putting their homes back together. Check them out; I think you'll be amazed.

Great post and great comments! I need to read that book! :) I have a note on my desk that says: "what happens to you is not as important as how you view the things that happen to you"

Thumbs up for a book that helps us think more positively more often, and eat better! Thanks Janet!

It is an interesting idea to use the metaphor of rooms in your house to find happiness. What we should not forget is that we don't live alone in this house! Happiness comes from sharing these rooms with your loved ones even as you try to preserve a little bit of your own self. Taking this metaphor a little further, I think one reason for unhappiness is when we let strangers enter these rooms with their own notions of "healthy weight" or a "healthy bank account", that we find ourselves in a circle of endless "catching up to do" with everybody else!

Great review!
