I would also recommend a book like "Animal Vegetable Miracle" or "Omnivore's Dilemma" for a greater understanding of how food gets to our plate and to help people understand that nutritious, wholesome food originates from the farm, not the supermarket.
Great blog, look forward to reading more!

A high five for your top five. It's so true that there are so many books out there to bash. I really appreciate the list you put together. I have to admit there were a couple, even as an R.D. I haven't read yet. I agree with one of your comments, TGFK (thank god for kindle).

Great list! You've given me a few new reading directions to pursue. I recently purchased and have been using Ellie Krieger's So Easy... and my family is loving the recipes. They are definitely very tasty, and I enjoy the nutrition tidbits. I'm a registered dietitian myself, so I definitely plan to refer my clients to this for some tasty and nutritious recipes!

My apartment looks like a hoarder's home, with all the stacks of books about science, health, and nutrition. Thank goodness for my new Amazon Kindle.

I watched a few clips of Ellie Krieger on the Food Network website a while back, since I don't have cable at home, and was so disappointed when I ran out of free segments! She's the reason I started baking my own granola, because she made it look so easy and delicious. I don't have $30 to spend on a recipe book right now, but I'll see if it's in my local library.
