Janet, I am excited to use the Nutrition Blog Network! I'm a dietetic intern, and am constantly challenged to keep high standards as I research online nutrition information for my preceptors and various projects. I respect what you've done with your blog here, and look forward to a network of RD blogs. Thank you.

Stan,
Forgive me, but you don't know what you're talking about. And I find it quite ironic that you're taking shots at academic institutions, when you're the one trying to sell something (what is antioxidants for health and longevity?). I call that bias. Health advice should be based on scientific evidence, not a motivation to try and sell a supplement or superjuice. Striking out at nutrition professionals is a cheap shot and couldn't be further from the truth. Sometimes the only way to elevate your claims is to cut down the professionals who criticize you. I would look closer at your phrase"lied to for the sake of profit." I have a feeling that is what's happening with you.

"Registered" dieticians and "Certified" nutritionists are some of the worst people to get nutritional information from. Why do I say that?
Basically, they might mean well, but they're only repeating information that was fed to them in nutrition school. And because it's taught in school, it MUST BE factual! LOL
Quite the contrary! Nutritional schools are heavily funded by the food industry, and these corporations have a heavy hand in what gets taught in these schools. They don't want their processed foods to be badmouthed, after all! And these nutritionists, after they graduate, continue to get their information from the same disreputable sources, never suspecting that they are being lied to for the sake of profit.

Diana, Robin, Wendy, Sybil, Emma: Thanks for the kind words. Rest assured, Janet and her team -- myself included -- are working hard to get the network up and running!
