Great post. And I love the flexetarian concept...it's a great way to move into a healthier, plant-based diet, without totally depriving your body's cravings. Love the site!

Janet--
Great perspective on the meeting. Our folks here listened in as well and walked away with similar conclusions. Check out our recap on our new blog: http://bit.ly/SmFV

Margie,
Sorry, that was me just being a little too flip. It certainly wasn't a line used by the committee. I just keep coming back to the famous Clinton-era line about the economy stupid. It's the same sort of thing to me...I just made a similar conclusion. It's all about calories. Didn't mean to offend!
But it seemed to offer the emphasis I was looking for. I'll have to watch my words!
Glad you liked the other parts of the summary.
Thanks for visiting,
Janet

Thank you for an excellent summary of the latest meeting on the Dietary Guidelines. I think the concepts of total calories and the calorie "gap" are effective communication strategies. But I admit to cringing when I read "it's the calories, stupid." I appreciate the irony, but still felt just a little offended. It definitely gets the point across though!
